USS Corsair News-September 2025

This month’s meeting took place at the Jones Creek Library on September 25th, where CO ADM Trisha provided a brief overview of the ongoing Vote of Confidence. She reminded the crew that they have about a day left to cast their votes. The ballot includes two significant items: a Vote of Confidence for Ryan Case to become the Commander of Starfleet and a proposed amendment that would allow us to incorporate in the state of Delaware. This is an important opportunity for everyone to participate in shaping our leadership and organizational structure.

In addition to the voting matters, ADM Trisha highlighted the various ways crew members can connect with others who share similar interests within STARFLEET. The Auxiliary program offers fantastic opportunities for interaction across different areas such as Petfleet, Medical, Science, Tactical (Gaming), the Diplomatic Corps, and the STARFLEET Marines. She encouraged everyone to take advantage of the challenges presented by these groups. To facilitate this, ADM Trisha plans to compile a list of all available challenges along with links, which she will share on the USS Corsair’s Discord server, making it easier for everyone to get involved.

On the Corsair front, there’s a lot of excitement brewing! CMDR Gail mentioned she would follow up with her contact in Hammond regarding the t-shirts, while ADM Trisha indicated she would reach out to Beau T to inquire about pricing. The Command Staff opted for t-shirts as they are more affordable and provide better comfort in warmer weather compared to polos. Meanwhile, we are still awaiting a match in the STARFLEET First Contact program, as the proposed chapter in Brazil has yet to make contact with the designated coordinator. We remain hopeful that someone else will step up to join this initiative, as it represents a valuable opportunity for expansion and collaboration.

CAPT Gary, GEN Edward T, and ADM Trisha met in person to discuss potential event options at the Louisiana Art and Science Museum. While they discovered that private classrooms were limited—one of the few available was currently being used for storage—they found several other promising spaces. The auditorium, equipped with a projector, could serve well for presentations or movie screenings. Additionally, the expansive lobby offered a great opportunity for arts and crafts activities or a prop display, while the planetarium could host special shows themed around space. They also brainstormed ideas for a scavenger hunt and considered inviting a guest comic book artist to give a talk, which could add an exciting element to the event. Timing-wise, they agreed that May 3rd would be ideal, especially if they could collaborate with the 501st and Rebel Legion. The first Sunday of the month is free, which would allow for a fuller day of programming by sharing responsibilities with another group. ADM Trisha is currently reaching out to them to solidify this collaboration.

After their meeting at the museum, the group headed over to the Blue Iguana on South Sherwood for some delicious Mexican cuisine. This visit was not just for a meal; they were also scouting the venue as a potential location for either a Captain’s Dinner or the Annual Awards Dinner. They discovered a cozy alcove that could comfortably accommodate 15 to 20 people, and the best part is that it’s available at no cost. Reservations can be made a week or two in advance, making it a convenient option for their planning. The menu features affordable dishes with generous portions, ensuring that everyone can enjoy a satisfying meal.

To top off the evening, the Blue Iguana offers a captivating ‘fire show’ at night, which adds an entertaining twist to the dining experience. This combination of dinner and a show could create a memorable atmosphere for their event, making it not just a meal but a complete experience. With the potential for a fun and engaging evening, the group left feeling excited about the possibilities ahead and eager to finalize their plans.

CAPT Gary introduced a new chapter award for consideration, the Sydney Lejeune Fellowship Award. This award aims to honor a chapter member who has demonstrated exceptional qualities in supporting others within the chapter. Whether through sharing valuable information, offering a sympathetic ear, or providing crucial assistance, the recipient will be recognized for their contributions. The proposal received approval, and the award will be presented for the first time next year, marking a significant addition to the chapter’s recognition efforts.

Following that, CAPT Gary provided an overview of the upcoming Boo At The Zoo event scheduled for October 25th. He emphasized the importance of wearing uniforms paired with comfortable shoes, as many guests will be dressed in costumes, making it a lively atmosphere. The zoo will supply bags for distributing treats, enhancing the festive spirit of the occasion. Additionally, ADM Trish will connect with Rachel, a staff member at the zoo, to gather any useful insights or tips that could help make the event even more enjoyable.

On Saturday, September 27, the group will gather for a fun outing at Monster Mini Golf in Hammond. Armando expressed a desire for plenty of photos to be shared on Instagram and Facebook, and he even suggested creating a Reel to capture the highlights of the day. CMDR Gail took a moment to remind everyone about the various charities they are supporting, including the Boxtops for Education initiative, and she confirmed attendance for both in-person and online participants.

Meanwhile, CAPT CeeDee shared her plans for the Children’s room at the Contraflow Convention happening from October 10-12, and she is seeking volunteers to help out. She also took a moment to rave about Season 1 of Peacemaker, recommending it wholeheartedly, especially praising the character Eagley. Lastly, she mentioned that she will be posting some intriguing science articles on Discord related to the 5th Dimension and other fascinating topics, encouraging everyone to check them out.

GEN Edward T. recently shared his thoughts on the wild online sessions of DungeonBox, which have been nothing short of exhilarating. The adventures have been plentiful, but it’s a good reminder that sometimes, a fireball isn’t the ultimate solution to every problem. Thankfully, the DungeonBox developers have addressed the pesky ‘the game never ends’ bug, allowing us to successfully complete several quests. We’re excited to announce that these sessions will be held every other Monday on the USS Corsair Discord at 7 PM, with each session typically lasting around an hour.

Mark your calendars for October 4th, as the 327th will be hosting an Oktoberfest celebration at Agile Brewing. Attendees can look forward to special German-style beer releases in the Taproom, along with delicious German food offerings from the on-site food truck. The festivities will include a Keg Rolling Contest and a Stein Holding Contest, adding a competitive edge to the fun. To keep the atmosphere lively, a DJ will be spinning Polka music from noon to 4 PM, and everyone is encouraged to don their traditional Oktoberfest attire to fully embrace the spirit of the event. Agile Brewing is also teaming up with their friends in the Quad, including Grain Creation, What If Distillery, and Laissez Versez, to create an Oktoberfest Block Party that promises to be a blast.

In other news, LCMDR Eddie B, our Chief of Medical, informed us that the latest issue of the STARFLEET Medical newsletter is now available for download. As we observe National Suicide Awareness Month, several members have bravely shared their personal experiences, highlighting the importance of mental health. For anyone in need of support, there are numerous mental health resources available, including the national helpline at 988, which offers free, confidential assistance 24/7 for those in crisis or emotional distress.

Additionally, Crewman Armando discussed his connection with Chewbaccus, where we have the opportunity to post events in their Discord. The event is set for January 24th, 2026, and we’re eager to have some members participate.

As we wrap up, we’re still looking for volunteers in areas like Social Media, LASM event planning, and the awards dinner. The meeting concluded at 8:30 PM, with ADM Trisha sharing a quick Instagram story to keep everyone updated.
