Subspace Transmission: Updates from the Fleet!

Greetings, crew of the USS Corsair! Grab a raktajino and settle into your favorite command chair. We’ve intercepted a flurry of priority signals from STARFLEET International headquarters, and it looks like the fleet is busier than a Tribble in a grain bin. From digital upgrades to planetary conservation, here is your official briefing on the latest happenings.

The Digital Frontier: Databases and Discord

Engineering reports that the New STARFLEET Database is officially transitioning out of drydock. We’ve reached a critical milestone where enough functional pages are live for members to start putting the system through its paces. It’s a bold leap forward for our records department!

Speaking of staying connected, if you haven’t beamed into the Official SFI Discord, you’re missing the heartbeat of the fleet. This secure channel is for current members only, so have your Chapter name and SCC number ready for the security protocols at the door. Remember, the Prime Directive (and our Code of Conduct) applies there just as much as it does on the bridge. If you have questions about your membership or need tech support, the Fleet holds Open Office Hours every Sunday from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM EST.

Mission: Project Earth 2026

Set your phasers to “Conserve!” STARFLEET is doubling down on environmental stewardship with Project Earth. You can watch the mission briefing here to see the full scope of the initiative. The project is split into three main thrusts: a massive “Summit” livestream, a virtual Science Fair in Gather Town, and boots-on-the-ground wilderness cleanups.

Closer to home, our very own CAPT Gary will be representing the Corsair as he researches the Gather Town Science Fair. Meanwhile, ADM Trisha is leading a landing party at the EBR Main Library for a “Wilderness” cleanup as part of “Love the Boot Week.” We aren’t just picking up litter; we’re also participating in the Baton Rouge Region City Nature Challenge. Bring your tricorder (or smartphone) to help us document local flora and fauna! If you want to join the away team, send an intake transmission to br*****@***pl.com.

Science & Education: The Sol Speaker Series

Our Science Officers have outdone themselves this April with a triple-header of guest speakers. By registering just once, you gain access to all three Zoom sessions.

On April 4th, LTJG Vince Ceraso will take us through the history of the Space Shuttle program. Then, on April 18th, analog astronaut Sharife Gacel will explain how Earth-based simulations help us prepare for the Artemis missions to the Moon. Finally, on April 25th, Patrick Sommer from DarkSky International joins our Project Earth Summit to discuss the vital need for preserving our natural night skies against light pollution.

Recreation and Service Opportunities

If your brain needs a workout, Region 12 is hosting Trek Trivia every Sunday at 6:30 PM, with a special “Odd Trek” session coming up on March 29th. For the bookworms among us, the STARFLEET Medical Reading Challenge is currently offering double points for any books featuring Cats or Felines. Whether it’s M’Ress or Data’s cat Spot, log your pages on their official Facebook page to help the Corsair climb the ranks!

Finally, the Fleet is currently looking for talented officers to fill several leadership vacancies. From the Chief Financial Officer position (closing 4/1) to the Director of STARFLEET Intelligence (closing 3/23), there are plenty of ways to serve. You can find the full list of open duty stations at sfi.org/volunteerresources.
